Psalm 55:1-2, 22 NIV 2011
Listen to my prayers, O God, do not ignore my plea; hear me and answer me. My thoughts trouble me and I am distraught.
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.
Even though David was a man after God’s own heart, there were powerful people threatening him. David went to the Lord to ask for help in the situation knowing God would hear his plea. Psalm 27:9, “Do not hide your face from me.” He then asks for God to answer because of where he was. Psalm 4:3, “Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God.” Past experience led David to confidently pray. Psalm 37:24, “though he may stumble, he will not fall; for the Lord upholds him with his hand.” The Lord upholds those who trust in Him.
How many times have I powered through on my own in the past? The closer I walk with Jesus the more I understand the Lord doesn’t want me to power through anything. He wants me to pour out my heart to Him daily. The middle of six, I learned to be quite independent growing up. That made it more difficult to be dependent on Him. David did not deny what was going on around him. Facing friction with the Father, we manage well together. He upholds me because I trust Him.
What hurt keeps us from His healing?
Upheld by Jesus,
