Galatians 3:13-14 NIV 2011
Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.
Paul wrote to the churches in Galatia to refute those taught by the Judaizers. They were teaching Christ plus circumcision and the Law of Moses saves. Galatians 4:5, “to redeem those under the law, that we might receive adoption to sonship.” Ephesians 1:7, “In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace.” Paul consistently spoke and wrote God’s Truth to all his converts. Jesus was hung on a cross/poll to die that all sinners might be saved. Jesus is Freedom from the curse of sin.
Studying Romans this year, chapter seven was transformational. “The conflict with sin that believers experience continues as long as we are in this world.” Paul wrote about his personal internal struggle with sin. He met Jesus on the road to Damascus. He was a godly man and still struggled with sin. I struggle with sin on a daily basis. Reading Paul’s letter helped me understand my experiencing these same struggles. Jesus alone is my Freedom from the curse of sin.
What sinful struggles cloud our walk?
