Psalm 59:16-17 NIV 2011
But I will sing of your strength, in the morning, I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress my refuge in times of trouble. You are my strength, I sing praise to you…my God on whom I can rely.
David, pursued by Saul, cried out to God for deliverance as he always did. Psalm 55:22, “Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you.” David was aware of God’s presence. Psalm 108:1, “My heart, O God, is steadfast; I will sing and make music with all my soul.” God showed up each time David turned to Him. 2 Samuel 22:3, “My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation.” David relied on God. Psalm 59:10a, “My God on whom I can rely.” God is worthy of worship in songs of praise.
It’s always been my absolute joy to lift my voice in songs of praise to our great God. From belting out the B-I-B-L-E in Sunday school to church camp songs around a campfire or while singing Blessed Assurance in church on Sunday, lifting my voice in songs of praise has always given me a special connection and oneness with the Lord. I’ve seen all He has done in my life and stand amazed He’s reliable. God alone is worthy of me lifting my voice in worship and praise daily.
How is the Lord a place of safety?
Praising God together,
