Ephesians 4:22-24 NIV 2011
You were taught… to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Paul gave instructions for Christians living in Ephesus to remember. Once they accepted Christ as their Savior, they also received the Holy Spirit as their constant guide. Romans 8:5, “Those who live according the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.” Paul challenged them to make sure their attitudes were Holy Spirit guided allowing them to let the Spirit renew their thoughts. Colossians 2:10, “And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.” The Holy Spirit can change a Christian’s life.
Wanting to be more like Jesus causes me to rely more on the Holy Spirit than myself. That means I must yield to the Spirit on a daily basis. As a sinner, I’m prone to satisfy myself rather than someone else. The days I choose to yield to the Spirit, I’m blessed beyond all measure. When I stop to see how the Lord is at work in my life, it’ blows me away. Why am I consistently amazed? As I let Him work, the Holy Spirit changes my life.
How will we yield to the Spirit today?
