1 Corinthian 15:55-57 NIV 2011
“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is you sting?”
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul knew the Scriptures. Hosea 13:14, “I will deliver this people from the power of the grave; I will redeem them from death. Where O death, are your plagues? Where, O grave, is your destruction?” Adam’s sin led to physical death. Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people because all sinned.” Sadly, Jesus died on the cross to save sinners. Romans 4:25, “He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.” When life is sad God is good.
Making sure every child attending VBS each year hears the message of sin and salvation is the most important part of our week spent together. Thursday is that day. I know Jesus died on Calvary’s cross for my sins and at times that makes me sad because I’m not the only sinner. As a believer I’ll die when the Lord calls me home and I will enter eternity having been covered by the blood of Jesus Christ at salvation. Some may be sad but God is good.
What sadness obscures our vision of God’s goodness?
Daily God is good,
