2 Corinthians 6:2b, Ezekiel 33:11 NIV 2011
I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.
“Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways!’”
Paul told the church in Corinth God had offered a way to receive His grace through Jesus Christ, His Son. His urgency was expressed by using the word now. Ezekiel had much the same urgency in his message to the Jews held captive in Babylon. They had begun to follow the ways of the Babylonians but God desired for them to remain faithful to Him. The Lord wanted His people to stand firm and turn away from the worldly ways surrounding them. The time of salvation is today, repent and respond.
The world has not changed much from Ezekiel’s time. We live in a crazy world that takes our focus off of our Great God. Meeting here each day helps immensely by reminding me to turn my eyes upon Jesus. Awaking at all hours during the night has become the sweetest times of prayer. Studying God’s Word and attending my church both ready me for what the future may bring. Saved by the precious blood of Jesus, I’m called to repent of sin and respond daily.
Who needs to know God’s gift of salvation?
Saved to share Jesus,
