Lamentations 3:21-24 NIV 2011
Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail, they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
After experiencing the devastation at the hand of the Babylonians, the Jews lament. Babylon was merely God’s divine agent of judgment upon the Jews. The author’s purpose was to show God’s faithfulness even during these times. God’s faithfulness and love bring hope to His people. This is considered the spiritual apex of Lamentations. Psalm 103:11, “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him.” Psalm 111:7, “The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.” Our God is faithful.
After the past week I’m able to attest to the fact that God is faithful. What began as a look forward to the new year, ended in time spent crying out to God to take away the pain in my mouth. Meds for a sinus infection did nothing. The dentist was not available until Monday so I continued crying out to God. Monday afternoon two teeth were pulled and I’m actually almost back to nomal. He’s consistently faithful in all of my life. Our Great God is faithful.
How will those who come behind us find us faithful?
Faithfully His daily,
