Proverbs 12:18, 15:3-4a NIV 2011
The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing.
The eyes of the Lord are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.
The soothing tongue is a tree of life
Proverbs contains words written by wise me. They described the import of living wisely while also living in a world full of folly and seduction. The reckless were people that rebelled against God. Psalm 106:33a, “for they rebelled against the Spirit of God.” Because God is everywhere, He sees everything. 2 Chronicles 16:9, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him. “ Hebrews 4:13, “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.” God’s Word is true. John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” God’s Word calls believers to be truthful.
We have a choice when we speak: speak the truth or speak using lies. In this politically correct world, some think that skirting the truth is not lying. God’s Word has shown me when we are not speaking the truth we are lying, as there is no gray area with the Lord. Speaking words recklessly can harm family and friends. Choosing our words wisely most often heals. God does not miss anything that is going on in our daily lives. Following Jesus’ model, I’ll choose to be truthful.
