3 John 1:3-4 NIV 2011
It gave me great joy when some believers came and testified about your faithfulness to the truth, telling how you continue to walk in it. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.
The apostle John wrote his third letter to Gaius whom some commentators believed to have been a leader of a church in Asia Minor. Written out of love for the work he was doing, John wrote to encourage him to remain faithful. 3 John 1:5, “Dear friend, you are faithful in what you are doing for the bothers and sisters.” The evidence was found as the people walked in the Truth. John used the word children as one of a parent to their children. John modeled for “his children” God’s truth by sharing his walk of faith. God guides His children to model walking by faith.
The greatest gift we can give our children is modeling our walk of faith. What I’ve learned it’s never too late to make that happen. Even if we come to know Christ in our later years, we can let them know we are sorry we did not model what we now know. Our lives look different after we meet Jesus, just as Paul’s life was forever changed. Let that be the start of a new beginning. Living a life for Christ models walking by faith.
How are we walking daily by faith?
