Luke 12:40, 2 Peter 3:10a NIV 2011

“You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”

But the day if the Lord will come like a thief.

The Apostles walked with Jesus when He spoke of His return. Mark 13:33, “Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that will come.” That was certain. Matthew 24:36, “But about that day or hour no one knows, nor even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.” Luke used the same descriptive word regarding Jesus’ return as Peter: thief. 2 Peter 12:39, “But understand this: if the owner of the house had known at what hour the thief was coming he would not have let his house be broken into.” God calls His people to be prepared for Jesus return.

My boss came in this morning and said, “Clean out your things, it’s your last day.” Well I don’t have a boss but how would that feel and would any of us be ready to hear that? Having studied God’s Word, both the Old and New Testament state that I need to live my life daily as if He’s coming back today. That means I need to confess my sins and repent of my sins daily. I haven’t a clue as to His return date. God has called me to prepare and wait.

How will we prepare for Jesus’ promised return?

Prepared and waiting,
