Romans 12:15, Ephesians 4:19, 32 NIV 2011

Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.

Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, and they are full of greed.

Be kind and compassionate to another, forgiving each other just as in Christ God forgave you.

Paul’s charge to the church pivots on their ability to sincerely love one another. That ability to identify with others whether they are in a sorrowful place or joyful one is the key to sensitivity. The church in Ephesus had lost their sensitivity to others when they gave in to ungodly life styles. Paul ended repeating the ways they could be sensitive to others. Sensitivity to others directs Believers to live lives for Christ.

There are times when I have a spirit of indifference and disobedience. Those are the exact times I’ve failed to be sensitive to those around me and decide to do things my way. The most memorable time would be my college days when I thought I knew everything. Many of the choices made during that time in my life were less than stellar; not godly. Having confessed those to the Lord, I know He has forgiven me. Through prayer, God continually guides me to be sensitive to those around me, which then leads me to amazing fellowship with all of His people.

How sensitive are we with others in our life?

Believers sensitive to God’s people,
