Ruth 4:14-15 NIV 2011
The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”
The Lord was with Naomi and Ruth on their journey to Bethlehem. God used their tragedy in Moab for His good purpose. Ruth followed Naomi because she was moved to follow the God of Naomi. Ruth harvested in the field of a relative. Their guardian-redeemer, Boaz, came from the line of Abraham noted in Jesus’ genealogy, Matthew 1:1-16. Naomi, though bitter, never waivered in her resolve to return. The Lord blessed Naomi beyond her imagination with a grandson through the union of Ruth and Boaz. God’s perfect plan for His people is never thwarted.
I decided to follow Jesus before 12. That is the most important decision of my life. Like Naomi and many others in God’s Word my resolve has carried me through those tragic and difficult times in life. God loved us so much that He sent His Son to save sinners like me. Through prayer and God’s Word, we navigate our life with His help. He redeemed me from a life of selfish sinful choices. Through all the tumult, His perfect plan was never thwarted.
How do we pursue His perfect plan?
