Hebrews 11:1, 3 NIV 2011
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
By Faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.
The unknown author of Hebrews begins to tie up the loose ends about believer’s faith. In Hebrews 10:19-25 he called them to persevere in faith. Draw near, be fully assured as they held unswervingly to the hope and encouraged others. He next challenged them to put feet to their faith. Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God.” Hold firm to their faith with eyes fixed on Jesus while they persevered in their faith. Hebrews 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house.” God’s Word provides believers examples of faith that show them how to be examples of faith to others.
Hebrews 11 goes on to show the faith of Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses and a prostitute named Rahab. Each one had a faith story. My faith story began at salvation but began again after the birth of our second daughter. I’m stronger as I grow closer to Him. Rough patches come and go but by keeping my eyes on Jesus, I persevere. By looking at the world around me no one but God created it. Knowing God’s faith examples, I’ll tell others my faith story.
