Leviticus 10:1-2 NIV 2011
Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu took their censers, put fire in them and added incense; and they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord, contrary to his command. So fire came down from the presence of the Lord and consumed them, and they died before the Lord.
The two older sons of Aaron made a choice. Their choice to be disobedient to the Lord did not end well for them. They did not make a godly choice using just incense for the offering. Exodus 30:9, “Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it.” God gave specific steps for worship. The Lord always acts swiftly. Numbers 16:35, “And the fire came out from the Lord and consumed the 250 men who were offering incense.” God Almighty is not tolerant of sinful behavior.
After a lengthy conversation with my niece this morning, I found this Scripture. Unlike Nadab and Abihu, she made a godly choice by choosing her faith in Jesus Christ rather than the ways of man. As the world tries to put we who believe Jesus Christ is Lord of our lives in a box, we must stand firm in our faith. It drives me to my knees daily to seek the face of God for the direction He wants me to take. I know our Great God is not tolerant of sinful behavior.
What sins need confessing?
