Luke 3:2b-4 NIV 2011
…the word of God came to John son of Zecariah in the wilderness. He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentence for the forgiveness of sin. As it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.’”
John the Baptist was chosen to prepare the way for Jesus. Luke 3:16, “John answered them all, ‘I baptize you with water. But one who is more powerful than I will come, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.” Luke 3:21a, “When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too.” Luke 3:22b, “And a voice came from heaven: ‘You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.’” God prepares the way for salvation.
When I listen to someone’s salvation story, I think about John and Jesus following the paths each were given to follow. No two are the same. Some find Christ after a harrowing life experience. Others find Him while growing up in Sunday School and church. Still others find Him through a friendship with another that knows Christ personally. Some find him reading the Bible. It matters not how we find Him because daily God prepares the way for salvation.
How will you share your salvation story?
