At that time people began to call on the name of the Lord.

Cain murdered his brother Able and was banished. Genesis 5:3, “When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth.” Seth gave birth to Enosh who called on the name of the Lord. Abraham called on the name of the Lord after building an altar. Those returning from captivity would call on the name of the Lord. Acts 2:21, “And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Calling on the name of the Lord is an integral part of prayer.
God’s Word is full of His faithful calling out to Him. Today, many call on the name of the Lord only when they have reached their last rope. I enjoy spending time in His presence. The words just flow as I draw near to Him. As we drove down the snowy hill on Sunday night, I called on the name of the Lord: protect, guide and guard us. He did. My prayers include calling on His name.
