Proverbs 24:13-14 NIV 2011
Eat honey, my son, for its good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste.
Know also that wisdom is like honey for you: If you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.
“Saying 26” titles this Proverb containing words from a wise man about wisdom. Proverbs 16:24, “Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.” God’s Word is food for the soul. Just like honey, God’s Word is sweet to those who know the Lord. Psalm 37:37, “Consider the blameless, observe the upright; a future awaits those who seek peace.” God remains with His people. Jeremiah 29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” God’s Word contains hope.
The basic concept of hope is linked with expectation, faith and trust. At this time of year we find hope in the birth of Jesus Christ. At salvation my search for hope led to taking Jesus Christ as my personal Savior. 1 Thessalonians 5:8, “But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.” My hope is found daily in the Truth contained in the Word of God.
How do we share our hope with others?
