Acts 13:11b-12 NIV 2011
“You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.” Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about seeking someone to lead him by the hand. When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.
Acts 13 began with Paul and Barnabas at the church in Antioch, They were “Set apart” by the Holy Spirit. Verse 12 ended with a new convert. Both traveled to the island of Cyprus and came to Paphos and met a false teacher. The proconsul wanted to hear the Good News. The Holy Spirit came upon Paul revealing information about the false teacher, accused him of being the devil’s child and the man was blinded. The proconsul believed Paul’s teachings through personal observation. Miracles in the early church led people to faith in Christ.
Living life in the twenty-first century can be difficult for believers. Shining the Light of Jesus to a lost and dying world is a stretch at times when the world does not want to see His Light. 2 Timothy 4:5, “But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.” Paul encouraged Timothy to shine the Light of Christ. Miracles take place daily when we shine the Light Jesus Christ.
