Psalm 16:11, Nehemiah 8:10 NIV 2011
You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
Psalm 16 is one of David’s psalms of lament. He was pleading for the Lord’s protection from his enemies. He ended the psalm with a statement of his faith; God directs, fills him with joy and is steadfastly beside him. Nehemiah led the returning Jews from Babylon in building the walls of Jerusalem. He read the Law to the people who began to mourn. God’s Word touched the hearts of the people and revival took place. The joy of the Lord is strength to Believers.
Almost one hundred years ago the man that made me the woman I am today was born. My father shaped the way I process and solve most problems. Both my parents pointed me toward Christ. It was a joy to grow up and continue to learn from him as an adult while watching him with our girls. He taught me to love not hate, be secure in what I have and forgive others. The joy of the Lord is my strength because I believe.
Where is His strength visible in your daily life?
