Romans 11:33-36 NIV 2011
Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?”
For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.
Paul’s doxology ends part four of Romans with an outpouring of praise to God. Merriam-Webster’s definition of doxology: a usually liturgical expression of praise to God. Paul shared the history of God’s sovereign choice concerning Israel. He quoted Isaiah 52:7 in 10:14, “And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news.” God was the counselor of the Jews even when they rebelled. Jesus was God’s perfect plan to save both Jew and Gentile. All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge are hidden in the Lord.
The Lord has faithfully been my counselor since the late 1970’s. Through some rebellious times much like the Israelites, He did not forget me. God knew my heart and waited patiently for my return. My homecoming was my new beginning which has daily drawn me closer to Him. Reviewing all the poor choices of the past helps me navigate my future. Praying and serving keeps my focus on His direction. I treasure all the knowledge and wisdom hidden in Him.
