1 Samuel 2:1-2 NIV 2011
Then Hannah prayed and said:
“My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. My mouth boasts over my enemies, for I delight in your deliverance.
“There is no one holy like the Lord; there is no one besides you; there is no Rock like our God.”
Hannah prayed to the Lord for a son, 1 Samuel 1:1-28. Praying for a son, she vowed to return her son to the Lord to be His servant. After weaning him, she did exactly as she had promised. Hannah’s prayer included gracious words to the Lord God that were specific and stirring. She praised and thanked God like David for who He is. Psalm 13:5, “But I trust in your unfailing love, my heart rejoices in your salvation.” God was her rock. 2 Samuel 22:2, “The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer.” The Lord our Rock delivers His disciples.
Praying for our sweet Mandi during her battle with an inoperable brain tumor, I asked God to remain with us during that time. Initially I prayed for a miracle and was granted almost a year to spend with her after diagnosis. We watched friends and family rally around us in support as His “rocks” while we weakly moved toward that final day. I was able to feel His hand faithfully on my shoulder. He is my Rock delivering me daily.
How has He delivered you recently?
