Matthew 18:35, Luke 6:37 NIV 2011
“This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you, unless you forgive your brother or sister from your heart.”
“Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
Jesus stated God the Father would forgive, however he will judge anyone that refuses to forgive others. Matthew 6:14, “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.” The heart must be lead the lips to forgive. James 2:13, “because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.” Luke quoted Jesus Words about judgment. Judgment as a choice can have eternal consequences as Jesus stated in Matthew 5:14. The Lord’s Prayer includes asking for forgiveness. Jesus forgives forgiving sinners.
A friend in a Bible study circle responded to “Forgive and you will be forgiven.” She said it was her get out of jail free card. I was a bit taken aback, but she continues by stating it was how she finally was able to get rid of her bitterness and forgive anyone that wronged her. I could see her countenance change as she spoke. Releasing what had happened freed her to be what God called her to be. She forgave and He forgave her. He forgives me as I forgive others.
Why is forgiveness a daily action?
His forgiven sinners,
