Psalm 25:16-19 NIV 2011
Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Relieve the troubles of my heart and free me from my anguish. Look on my affliction and my distress and take away all my sins. See how numerous are my enemies and how fiercely they hate me!
David in deep distress, turns to the only One he knows will help him in his time of need. Possibly under attack from his enemies, David prays for relief. David consistently confessed and asked for a clean heart. Psalm 4:7, “Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound.” Paul and Barnabus pleaded for the people in Lystra to remember what Jesus did. Acts 14:17, “He provides you with plenty of food and fills your hearts with joy.” David rested in God alone. God graciously remains beside believers through every challenge that’s face.
There hasn’t been a time in the past twenty-five years that I haven’t felt God’s presence daily. Though there have been peaks and valleys along with times of angst and frustration, I’ve experienced His calming touch putting me at ease. During times of personal loss, He’s actually been there carrying me until I was ready to walk again. When sinful choices have led me into uncharted waters, confession and turning to Him guides me back to His calm harbor. I’m thankful God’s Word discloses He’s always with me.
Why does God remain with believers?
Grateful He is God,
