Psalm 91:7-8 NIV 2011

A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you. You will only observe with your eyes and see the punishment of the wicked.

Either a priest or Levite from the temple authored this psalm. He offered continual assurance that God’s people would be secure. No matter what was happening around them, it would not touch them. God was and is the center of life. Jesus quoted Deuteronomy 6:4 in Mark 12:29, “‘The most important one,’ answered Jesus, ‘is this: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.”’” Their hope would always be found in the Lord Almighty. Psalm 37:34, “Hope in the Lord and keep his way. He will exalt you to inherit the land; when the wicked are destroyed, you will see it.” Sovereign God saves His faithful servants.

There have been times in my life when the world around me seemed to be in chaos. The morning of 9/11 was one of those times. Watching the towers collapse and the people that were lost that day was imprinted on my brain. A friend from church lost a sister that day. What keeps me moving forward? Knowing God is still in control and knows what took place. We live in a fallen world. God sent Jesus to save sinners. Daily Sovereign God saves those that choose to faithfully serve Him.

Why does God save His servants?

Saved to serve Him,

    1. A work in progress. BSF wraps 5/9 and then I’ll hit it hard. I’ll be at NAPC 5/5. And I’m going to be an extra pair of helping hands at VBS for Anne. Flying in with my two grandchildren from Seattle area in July so they can attend VBS with me. Miss seeing you on Sundays and some Thursdays at BSF. Praying you are doing well along with your sweet husband and girls. I thought of you as I wrote yesterday’s daily regarding how we face the world as it comes crashing down around us at times. But so thankful our God is Sovereign and knows everything that is going on and faithfully remains with us. Love you my sister-in-Christ.
