1 Peter 2:9-10a NIV 2011
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God…
The Apostle Peter wrote his letter with instructions for Jews and Gentiles about living holy lives during persecuted. He wrote truth just as Paul did. Ephesians 1:4a, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” They were chosen just as in the Old Testament. Isaiah 44:1, “But now listen, Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.” They were God’s chosen people. Hosea 2:23b, “I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’” All who profess Jesus as Lord and Savior are God’s chosen.
I grabbed my blue NIV 1985 Bible and found this passage with three dates next to it. The first was six months after my trip to Israel with my BSF teaching leader. The second was the first time we studied Isaiah in BSF. That last was after completing our Pilot BSF class. One thread in each is a daily study in God’s Word drives me closer to Christ, the corner stone of my faith. Once saved I became God’s chosen.
Who needs to be one of God’s chosen?
