Psalm 19:9, 111:10a NIV 2011
The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the Lord are firm, and all of them are righteous.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow is precepts have good understanding.
David knew the Lord intimately because he chose to go to Him during the good and the stressful times of his life. He passed that on to his son Solomon. Proverbs 1:7, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.” The foundation of faith is found in God alone. Isaiah 33:6, “He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.” God’s ways are perfect and true. Those who obediently follow the Lord will grow in wisdom.
