John 1:16-18 NIV 2011
Out of his fullness we have all received grace in place of grace already given. For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father has made him known.
God gave His Law to Moses during Israel’s journey to the Promised Land. Israel was unable to keep the Law. Hebrews 1:1, “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times in various ways.” Jesus is the final sacrifice and died for the sins of all. Grace on top of grace is given to those who follow Him. Colossians 2:9-10a, “For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lies in bodily form and in Christ you have been brought to fullness.” Jesus is God’s gift of Grace.
Pastor’s sermon today was from 1John 4:7-21 where the word love appears 24 times in my NIV. When He stated, “The love of God is most powerfully given to us in Christ” I thought of these verses. We’ve been given grace because God loves us. We are to shine His Light to the lost and dying world around us. Pastor asked us how we are abiding in His love. Then challenged us to read God’s Word and pray daily. Jesus is God’s gift of grace.
What are some results of God’s grace gift?
