Judges 13:24-25 NIV 2011
The woman gave birth to a boy and named him Samson. He grew and the Lord blessed him, and the Spirit of the Lord began to stir him while he was in Mahaneh Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.
God chose Manoah from the clan of Danites and his wife who was childless to give birth to a son. The Hebrew name Samson means “sun” or “brightness.” He was the light of joy for his parents, needed during Israel’s dark time in history. God continued to deliver His people over and over through “leaders known as judges.” Samson became the leader God sent to relieve His people from oppressive foreigners due to Israel’s sinful choices. Israel needed to continually choose God as Lord of their lives. Samson was imperfect but led God’s people for twenty years during their oppression from the west. God chooses imperfect common people to complete His uncommon perfect plan.
The day we are born again, each of us chooses to follow the path God has laid before us. There have been a few detours along my journey but He has used each one for His glory. Sometimes it feels like I am at a crossroads, unsure which road is mine. Romans 8:38-39, “For I am convinced…nor anything…will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Daily He chooses me to complete His perfect plan.
What is His perfect plan for you?
