Hebrews 3:5-6 NIV2011
“Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory.
The author of Hebrews quoted Numbers 12:7, “But this is not true of my servant Moses, he is faithful in all my houses.” He wrote of Christ’s superiority over Moses. Moses was God’s servant but Christ is the Son of God. Both Christ and Moses were faithful. Moses was part of God’s house while Christ is over God’s house. Believers are a part of God’s household. Perseverance is a hallmark of each child of God. Hebrews 10:35, “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.” God commands believers to courageously persevere.
Paul’s letter to the church in Rome reiterates the same information as this letter to the Hebrews, Romans 5:2, “Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith unto the grace in which we now stand.” Those of us in “His house” have all been saved by the grace of God. We are all called to remain in Christ and confidently live boldly for Him. Without hurdles, faithfully living for Him is much easier. I need to daily put on the full armor of Christ and courageously persevere through life.
How will we courageously persevere today?
