Galatians 1:3, 1 Peter 5:10-11 NIV 2011
Grace and peace to you from God…
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To Him be the power for ever and ever. Amen
Paul specifically stated God was the source of grace and peace. Grace is God’s unmerited favor granted to all sinners through Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary. Both Paul and Peter used these words as greetings in their letters. Peter’s letter presented the church with some pivotal characteristics for them to model for others. 1 Peter 5:6-9, “Humble yourselves…cast all your anxiety on him…Be alert and of sober mind…Resist him, standing firm in the faith.” God would restore and make them strong. Grace comes as a gift from God.
The grace the Lord has extended to me has been immeasurable. The grace I extend has been in short supply recently. Following Peter’s model, I need to remember to be humble on a daily basis. Casting my cares on Him has always been easy. Being a watchman on the tower is something I forget from time to time but it’s essential. The enemy is constantly nipping at my heels. By spending time daily in His Word, I can resist him and stand firm in my faith. At salvation I received the gift of God’s amazing grace.
How will we show grace today?
Saved by grace,
