Colossians 2:2-3 NIV 2011
My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
Genesis 2:18a, “The Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone.’” God created a man. He then created a woman as his companion. Throughout the Old and New Testament, God offered His people others to share similar life experiences. Paul picked that same battle cry using it in his letters to the churches from Jerusalem to Rome. The church at Colossae needed to remember Christ was their foundation. Remaining one in Him, faith in Christ alone, they were united and would encourage one another. God’s faithful are encouraged and loved as members of a church family.
This morning was my last Sunday to worship with my church family. I said a tearful good-bye to the first friend God gave me. I knew it was communion Sunday and was blessed to sit with my small group sister-in-Christ and her family. My fellow worship-leader and small group friend sat behind me. The pastor’s wife said good-bye and hugged me. It has been my privilege to be part of this Christ centered church family the past six years. My church has loved and encouraged me daily.
How do God’s faithful encourage?
Loved by God’s faithful,
