John 8:12 NIV 2011
When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”
John proclaimed Jesus was the light of the world. John 1:4, “In him was life, and that life was the light of the world of all mankind.” John also proclaimed, “God is light” in 1 John 1:5, “This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.” John used the Greek word for life thirty-six times driving home its significance in believer’s lives. All who follow Jesus reflect His light. Jesus proclaimed in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world.” Life is Christ’s gift. Through faith in Jesus Christ, His light leads to true life.
Reformation Sunday, celebrated the last Sunday in October, marks the occasion of Martin Luther’s posting of the 95 theses on the church door in Wittenberg, Germany. We were challenged to make an impact on those around us during pastor’s sermon today. I am without excuse because of the Light I was given. While I will never be a Martin Luther, I can share Christ’s Light with others. God has a plan for each of us. I need to listen and trust Him daily. Faithfully shining His light, He’s given me true life to faithfully shine His light.
Where will we shine His light?
Shining His light,
