John 6:34-35 NIV 2011

“Sir,” they said, “always give us this bread.”

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

The people gathered to hear Jesus speak knew Moses gave the Israelites bread from heaven. Exodus 16:4, “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘I will rain down bread from heaven for you.’” The people wanted bread. Jesus responded. John 6:33, “For the bread of God is the bread that comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Jesus is the bread of life. John 6:51, “I am the living bread that came down from heaven.” Feasting on the Word of God satisfies God’s people.

Pastor preached on this passage today. He said, “Humanity has a void in their souls that nothing can satisfy.” I was shocked because I was thinking after I got dressed and was blowing my hair dry, “Am I satisfied with how I look?” Then I smiled and knew that I find satisfaction by being a Child of the King. It doesn’t matter how I look on the outside but what I spend my time doing to further the kingdom of God. Service ended commissioning a member serving as a missionary in Albania and Croatia. He’s taking the bread of life to share. Satisfaction is found feasting daily on the Word of God.

How is our faith transformed feasting on God’s Word?

Trusting Jesus together,
