Psalm 1:1-2 NIV 2011
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night.
Those who fear the Lord will be blessed. Psalm 123:4, “Yes, this will be the blessing for the man who fears the Lord.” Those that trust the Lord will be blessed. Psalm 40:4, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord…” The Lord wants His people to delight in His Word. Psalm 119:16, “I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” Paul knew God’s law and meditated on it day and night. Romans 7:22, “For in my inner being I delight in God’s law.” All who follow the Lord experience blessings and joy.
A French writer summed up this passage, “Joy is the most infallible sign of the presence of God.” A fruit of the Spirit, joy, should abound in the lives of believers. Listening to my pastor’s sermon this morning, he ended with these three take-a-ways. “We are secure by the grace of God! We are secure by the purpose of God. We are secure by the power of God.” That should bring joy into my heart and for each of us daily. Believing God’s Word, I experience His joy and blessings.
How do you experience God’s joy and blessings?
Joyfully following Jesus,
