Psalm 147:12-15 NIV 2011
Extol the Lord, Jerusalem; praise your God, Zion.
He strengthens the bars of your gates and blesses your people within you. He grants peace to your boarders and satisfies you with the finest of wheat. He sends his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
Praising God focuses His people. Psalm 48:1, “Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his holy mountain.” God understands His people are weak and gives them the ability to stand firm. Because He is God, He provides continual blessings. Psalm 132:15, “I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with food.” He physically gave His people His Word. Psalm 33:9, “For he spoke, and it came to be; he commanded, and it stood firm.” The Lord who strengthens, satisfies and sent His Word is worthy of praise.
Thumbing through a small pocket Bible I took with me to Israel twenty-two years ago I found this Scripture penned on a piece of paper. I remember the day I copied it as we had just spent the day walking the Old City of Jerusalem where we were staying. The sights, sounds and scenery took my breath away. The Lord strengthened us as we walked the wall and the way of the cross. Satisfied with our day, we spent time in His Word because God is worthy of our praise.
How is God worthy of praise today?
Daily praising Him,
