Hebrews 13:15-16 NIV 2011
Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Sacrifices of praise please God. Paul’s letter to the church in Rome contained a similar message. Romans 12:1, “Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.” Sacrificial giving to others pleases God as Paul wrote in his letter to the Philippians. Philippians 4:18, “I have received full payment and have more than enough. I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant sacrifice, pleasing to God.” Personal sacrifices please God.
Attending my home church, NAPC, this morning, Pastor David had seen Avengers: End Game as did we this past week. He preached on John 11:45-57, Jesus’ death on the cross was the ultimate sacrifice offered for all sinners. He then asked what sacrifices were we willing to make within our church and personally. Returning to our daughter’s home gave me the opportunity to reflect on the answers. I see our church reaching out to the inner city. Personally I’m praying He’ll show me the sacrifices He wants me to make.
Am I making the right sacrifices?
Personal sacrifices please God,
