John 1:1-2, 2 Peter 3:18 NIV 2011

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.

But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

John 1:1 echoed Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning.” The Word, the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ, existed “in the beginning.” Isaiah refered to the word. Isaiah 55:11, “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: it will not return to me empty.” John quoted Jesus words. John 17:5, “And now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began.” Peter stressed growing in grace and knowledge of Jesus as the key component to guard against false teaching. Believers belong to The Father because of the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Casting Crowns words “Who Am I” bring clarity to these Scriptures. “And you’ve told me who I am. I am yours, I am yours.” It’s not because of who I am but because of what Jesus did at the cross. Christ’s sacrifice gives believers God’s grace. We’re created to have a relationship with God. He patiently waits daily for all to come to Him through His Son. We belong to Him not because of what we’ve done but because of what Jesus did.

Who needs to know what Jesus did?

We are His,
