Ephesians 6:13, 18a NIV 2011
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.
Paul challenged the Ephesians to be strong. Ephesians 6:10, “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Faith and trust in the Lord provided strength. He warned of the spiritual battle ahead. They were spiritual beings living in a physical world. They needed to wake up ready for the day-to-day battle ahead. Romans 8:26, “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.” Prayer is foundational for God’s faithful. Matthew 26:41, “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.” God’s Word and prayer arms His faithful with full protection.
We face a spiritual battle the Enemy does not want us to win. As a child of God, I need to spend time daily in His Word. As Paul wrote, I need to put on God’s full armor each morning as I wake up and place it right by my bed so I can put it on the next morning. Typing and sharing God’s Word focuses my day on Him. I could only smile this morning when the pastor preached on these verses. I’m armed daily with God’s Word and prayer.
How’s God’s Word our faithful armor?
God protects us,
