Genesis 19:16-17 NIV 2011
When he hesitated, the men grasped his hand and the hands of his wife and of his two daughters and led them safely out of the city, for the Lord was merciful to them. As soon as they had brought them out, one of them said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”
God’s anger with Sodom and Gomorrah’s immorality had reached an apex. Abraham brought his concern for his nephew Lot before the Lord. Two angels sent by God delivered Lot, his wife and daughters from the destruction of Sodom. Though the immoral people were all condemned, God spared Lot and his family because He is God. God acts, not according to human notions of fairness, but according to His divine omniscience and righteousness.
At times shortly after slowing my speed I’ve passed a police patrol car. If I had not, I probably would have received a ticket. Some might say I was lucky, but it was a choice I made at the right time. How many people do you know that have not chosen to follow Christ? Abraham pled for Sodom as well as his nephew. I’m thankful God sees me through the prism of Jesus Christ. Daily I see our Great God act according to His divine omniscience and righteousness.
How will we each plead for those who are lost?
Thankful God is still God,
