Psalm 119:15-16, Isaiah 55:11 NIV 2011
I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.
So my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Psalm 119 celebrates God’s Word. It is trustworthy. Psalm 19:7, “The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple.” God’s Word brings delight to those who meditate upon it. Psalm 112:1, “Praise the Lord. Blessed are those who fear the Lord, who find great delight in his commands.” God’s promises are woven throughout His Word. John 1:1, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God’s Word reveals His Will.
The sermon this morning was from Mark 14:3-9. Mary anointed Jesus with expensive perfume but was rebuked by the people present. Jesus spoke in her defense. She seized the God-given opportunity and gave freely to Jesus all she had. Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Like Mary, Knowing God’s Word I choose to daily act upon the truth found there. God’s Word reveals His will for my life.
