Acts 13:26-27 NIV 2011
“Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath.”
Paul and Barnabas were in the synagogue of Pisidian Antioch. It is the first recorded sermon recorded in Acts by Paul on his first missionary journey. It might be strange that Paul preached in a synagogue but many “God-fearing Gentiles” were there as many leaders invited guests. He used this forum to reach the Jews and Gentiles. Paul gave the same message he shared in each city after meeting Jesus on the road to Damascus. Jews blinded to the Scripture sent Jesus to the cross fulfilling prophecy. Accepting Jesus as personal Savior is the only requirement for salvation.
“Flawless” by MercyMe contains words that stand out every time I hear it. “Could it possibly be…that this unconditional kind of love would be enough, but that’s exactly what He did?” Just like the Jews that were blinded to Jesus, people today are still blinded by the world that denies Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Truth is found in God’s Word. The song’s chorus ends, “The cross has made—the cross has made you flawless.” That was the price Jesus paid to save and make me flawless.
How will we share His amazing grace daily?
