2 Samuel 12: 7, 9 NIV 2011
Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man! This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: “I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. Why did you despise the word of the Lord by doing what is evil in his eyes?”
David made a choice, 2 Samuel 11:1c, “But David remained in Jerusalem.” Too much leisure time led to sinful behavior. God sent Nathan the prophet to rebuke and judge David. Nathan used a parable to illustrate David’s sin. His response to the parable condemned David. He confessed his sin against the Lord. David’s son conceived in sin died. David’s sinful choice led his family in a drastically different direction. 1 Kings 15:5, “For David had done what was right in the eyes of the Lord… except in the case of Uriah the Hittite.” Confessed sin covered by Christ carries consequences.
Daily I’m aware I’ve been given an amazing gift. I know beyond a shadow of a doubt where I will spend eternity. But the question are, “will I continue to live this life until that time? How will I lead a life worthy of my calling?” He’s given me the tools in His Word to guide the way, even when the path is rocky. During those times of uncertainty, His Light guides my way. Confessing my sins draws me closer to Christ.
What sins need to be confessed?
