Genesis 22:17b-18, Psalm 89:29 NIV 2011
‘Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring all nations will be blessed, because you have obeyed me.”
I will establish his line forever, his throne as long as the heavens endure.
God promised Abraham numerous descendants. Genesis 13:16, “I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth.” His promises are trustworthy and dependable. Hebrews 6:13-14, “When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, ‘I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.’” God’s promise to David was everlasting and unconditional. 2 Samuel 7:28, “Sovereign Lord, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant.” God does not lie. John 17:17, “Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.” God keeps His promises.
God knows everything about me. I don’t make promises easily. When I do make a promise to someone, it’s done only when I know I’m capable of keeping that promise. When I married my sweet husband almost forty-eight years ago, I made a promise to love, honor and cherish him as long as we lived. That’s a promise I continue to keep daily. God kept His promise and sent His Son to save sinners like me. My sins are forgiven because God keeps His promises.
Why does God forgive saved sinners?
Safely secure in God’s promises,
