1 Chronicles 16:34-35 NIV 2011
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his love endures forever. Cry out, “Save us God our Savior, gather us and deliver us from the nations, that we may give thanks to your holy name; and glory in your praise.”
David offered these words of praise to the Lord. He appointed the Levites and Asaph as chief to lead the people when giving the Lord praise. 1 Chronicles 16:7, “That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner.” The Israelites were commanded to remember and praise God. Isaiah 12:4, “In that day you will say: ‘Give praise to the Lord.’” David knew God was their Savior. Psalm 18:46c, “Exalted be God my Savior.” Psalm 38:22, “Come quickly to help me, my Lord and my Savior.” God our Savior is worthy of thanks and praise.
To be thankful is an action desirable for all God’s people. Today I was thankful to worship at New Albany Presbyterian Church with my wonderful church family. It was as if I’d never been gone. After the reading of God’s Word we all said in unison, “Thanks be to God.” I thought of this passage knowing God calls His followers to corporately worship Him weekly. Being thankful helps me focus on Him rather than what’s happening around me. God is worthy of my thanks and praise.
How do we thank and praise God daily?
Thank you God for everything,
