Exodus 16:11-12 NIV 2011
The Lord said to Moses, “I have heard the grumblings of the Israelites. Tell them, ‘At twilight you will eat meat, and in the morning you will be filled with bread. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.’”
The Lord had freed the Israelites from slavery under the rule of Pharaoh. Moses led them out of Egypt and it was after a month they began to grumble. Exodus 16:2, “In the desert the whole community grumbled against Moses and Aaron.” They were set free to worship the Lord but looked inward at what they didn’t have rather than look at all they did have. When they worshiped the Lord, they were focused on Him. When they focused on themselves, they failed to see God’s faithfulness. The enemy wants believers to be defeated and in despair. God faithfully provides for His people.
There’s been a time or two when I compared what I don’t have with what others do have. Those few times always surprise me but I see Satan is at work because I have everything I need. Compared to what we had when we were first married, I have more than I could have ever imagined. Focusing on the Lord keeps my selfish thoughts at bay. I am less likely to grumble about anything. I continually see God faithfully provides for me daily.
What do we take for granted that God has already done for us?
Thankful God is faithful,
