1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 NIV 2011
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May you whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
Paul’s letter celebrated the church, predominantly Thessalonian Gentiles. He along with Silas and Timothy established this church during their second missionary journey. Acts 17:1, “When Paul and his companions had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where there was a Jewish synagogue.” Paul reminded the Romans of their call. Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Christ came to save sinners calling believers to share the Good News. 1 Corinthians 1:9, “God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son.” Jesus is our calling King.
After making omelets this morning, ready to shower, shampoo and shine before church, God called me to share His Truth with a relative. Having finished, all I had time to do was change, swish some mouthwash and add just a little deodorant before I drove off to church. The pastor’s message centered on Abram’s call to leave everything and go to Canaan, Genesis 12:1-9, just as our church has been called to leave our current affiliation. We’re prayerfully confident it’s Jesus’ call.
Where is He calling you today?
Daily serving Jesus,
