James 2:25-26 NIV 2011
In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
James wrote to Jewish Christians encouraging and instructing them to continue walking by faith. He ended by giving Rahab’s example of God using a woman of faith. Hebrews 11:31, “By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.” God uses even the lowly to accomplish His good purposes. Though her occupation was never God’s desire for women, He saw her faith. He used her to help the spies Joshua sent to Jericho found in Joshua 2. God will use those saved by faith for His good purposes.
Rahab’s story will always be a pivotal part of history in God’s Word for me. Having seen Him use great men so many times to accomplish His good purpose showed me He uses whom He chooses. One thing each person He used had in common with me is they were all sinners just like me but each had faith in Him. After more than six years writing the daily God has taught me He can even use someone as flawed as me. He uses all believers for His good purposes.
