Psalm 73:26-28 NIV 2011
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Those who are far from you will perish; you destroy all who are unfaithful to you. But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.
The Psalter, more than likely a Levite, offered words of godly wisdom for God’s people. Envy and pride brought distance. Wandering far from God led to wickedness. Returning to the Lord brought strength through God alone. Placing their trust in God, He would sustain them. Punishment came to those who were unfaithful, the reason they went astray. Remaining faithful to the Lord would lead His people to closer a relationship with Him. Praising God for all He had done in their lives returned their refuge, the Lord. God is righteous and worthy of praise.
Slight bumps in the road would send me off course and wandering aimlessly by myself in the past. The longer I remained saturated in the ways of the world, the harder it was to course correct. Over the past four plus years faithfully being in God’s Word has alleviated the need for much course correction. Spending time with Him as I write, keeps me grounded and able to hear His still small voice. Our Righteous God is daily worthy of praise.
