Psalm 89:14, Ephesians 4:15 NIV 2011
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head that is, Christ.
God’s love and faithfulness are found throughout the Bible. The book of Psalms celebrates those two facts over and over again. Psalm 36:5, “Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.” God’s love and faithfulness are revealed seven times in Psalm 89 alone. Truth is manifest in the hearts of those that trust the Lord. Paul reiterates God’s desire for His people to remember to speak the truth in love. Ephesians 1:4, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” God’s model of love is faithful and true.
Being married more than 47 years, I’ve found my love for my husband continues to evolve and grow each passing year. Loving our daughters is the same as they are both now mothers to our grandchildren. There’ve been friends through the years that I’ve loved remaining in close contact. Some friends for one reason or another are no longer a part of my life. Truth is an ingredient of my recipe for loving others daily. Working on following God’s model of love that’s faithful and true.
How are truth and love inherent in our nature?
God’s faithful followers,
