2 Samuel 5:19 NIV 2011
So David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I go and attack the Philistines? Will you deliver them into my hands?”
The Lord answered him, “Go, for I will surely deliver the Philistines into your hands.”
When unsure, David prayed. 1 Samuel 23:2, “he inquired of the Lord…” 2 Samuel 2:1, “in the course of time, David inquired of the Lord.” God’s Word is filled with His people seeking Him. Jeremiah 29:13, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” David was a man after God’s own heart. Acts 13:22, “I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart.” Though David was imperfect, he knew the Lord intimately by spending time in prayer. Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” God hears and answers the prayers of His people.
Next week a dear friend is having foot surgery. I will be unable to visit her after surgery. She visited and brought me food ten years ago after my foot surgery. The one thing I can do from a distance is lift her up to the only Wise God our Father in prayer before, during and after her surgery. I’m praying the Great Physician will be present and guide the doctor’s hands. I’m praying for complete healing and smooth complete recovery. Like David, daily I know God hears and answers my prayers.
How will we lift the needy in payer?
